The California State Water Resources Control Board has released a Preliminary Draft Wetland Area Protection Policy.

The California Natural Resources Agency released the second State of the State’s Wetlands report, which summarizes the progress made by many state agencies, public and private partnerships, and the federal government to protect, restore, and monitor California’s diverse wetland resources from 1999 through 2009.

The Natural Resources Agency of California released a draft report for public review titled, Public Review Draft - State of the State’s Wetlands Report. The report summarizes the importance of wetlands, what we know about them, and efforts undertaken to implement the California Wetlands Conservation Policy. The report also identifies the progress made by many state agencies, public and private partnerships, and the federal government to protect, restore, and monitor California’s wetlands. The report concludes by citing challenges and making a set of recommendations to better realize the Wetlands Conservation Policy’s goal of reducing wetlands loss and achieving wetland gains.
